Dosa Waffle Recipe by GoSpicy.net Dosa Waffle Recipe by GoSpicy.net

Dosa Waffle/Savory Waffles - can be made very quick if you have regular dosai batter ready. It is crispy on the outside and soft on inside. It is also more fun to have this waffle instead of usual dosa. Idli podi is the best side for this waffle. Coconut chutney or any other chutney also goes well with this waffles.

Last year I bought waffle maker during Thanksgiving because I am in looove with the belgian waffles. which I will share the recipe in future. Other than the belgian waffle, I also make dosai waffle very often. It is very quick to make and very delicious to eat. If you are bored with idli, dosai or paniyaram, you can try this for a change with your regular the dosa batter. You will love it. It can be eaten as a breakfast or evening snack. Kids also will love this waffle dish.

Coming for a side dish for this savory waffle, I love to have idli podi mixed with sesame oil as a side dish. But any spicy chutney would be perfect too. Just have this waffle while it is hot. If you rest it longer, it will get soft. If you are okay with soft waffles, then good. If you like crispy waffles like me, eat hot. Now, go make these waffles and enjoy!!

4When it is ready, grease it with oil or spray it with oil spray. Then, pour 1/3 cup of the dosa batter into each cavity of the waffle maker. It depends on which waffle maker you are using. If it needs more batter, add a little more(read the waffle maker instruction).

5Close the lid and cook the waffle till it is golden brown on the outside. It would take anywhere between 8 to 10 minutes. It depends on the waffle maker, also how crispy you want your waffle to be. Check it in between but don't open and close too often.

6Once it is done, carefully remove the waffles from the waffle maker. Place it on the wire rack. If you place the waffle on the plate one top of another, it will get too soft because of the steam. Make the waffles using remaining batter. It is best to eat while it is hot. Enjoy the waffles hot with coconut chutney and idli podi!!

NOTES

If the dosa batter is too thick, add water little by little to make thin. Don't make it too thin.

Cooking time and the amount of batter which you have to fill can vary between waffle makers. Dosa waffle takes little more time to cook than the regular waffle. Just check in between and take it out once it cooked and crispy on the outside.

Here, I have added only sauted onion but you can add grated carrot, chopped capsicum too.

First I just stir sauted the onions and then added to the batter. You can skip this step and directly add raw onions with green chiili, curry leaves into the batter. Skip the mustard seeds as well.
