Peas Pulao/Coriander Peas Pulao - is a easy lunch dish. It is flavored with coriander leaves, mint leaves and cooked with peas. You can eat with simple raita or any gravy of your choice.

Peas pulao is one of the quick variety rice recipe. Here, I am adding ground coriander leaves to give a green color and a nice flavor to the rice. I am also adding few mint leaves to enhance the flavor little. As we are adding all green ingredients like mint(pudina), coriander leaves and peas, it is quite healthy too. Make this dish for lunch or dinner and serve it hot!!

INGREDIENTS
  PRINT RECIPE  
Basmati Rice - 1 cup
Water - 1 1/2 cup
Green Peas - 1 cup
Green Chilli - 2, slitted
Onion - 1, sliced
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 teaspoon
Cloves - 2
Bay Leaf - 1
Cardamom - 3
Ghee - 1 tablespoon
Oil - 1/2 tablespoon
Salt - to taste
To Grind:
Coriander Leaves - one handful, about 1/2 cup tightly packed
Mint Leaves - 10
Lemon - half lemon, about 1 tablespoon
INSTRUCTIONS

1Wash basmati rice 2-3 times and soak it in water for 20 to 30 min. After that add the ingredients under "To Grind" to the mixer.

2Grind it with little water and keep it aside. Next, heat the pressure cooker with ghee and oil. Once it becomes hot, add bay leaf, cardamom, cloves and slitted green chilli. Stir for few seconds.

3After that add sliced onions and let it cook till it becomes soft. Then add ginger garlic paste, stir it and cook till its raw smell goes away.

4Next goes in the green peas, saute it for a minute. Then add the ground paste, saute it and cook it for few minutes. This doesn't need be cooked long time, just few minutes are enough.

5Once it comes together, drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pressure cooker. Saute it for a minute.

6Now, add 1 and 1/2 cups of water and enough salt. Close the lid and cook it for 2 whistles over high heat. If you are cooking in medium flame, one whistle is enough. Turn off of the heat. Do not open the pressure cooker immediately. Let all the pressure gets released by itself. Then open the pressure cooker and mix the rice gently. Now, it is ready to serve.

NOTES

Instead of water, you can also add coconut milk and water. Coconut milk gives a rich taste and adds flavor to the rice.

I added just few mint leaves. If you want you can increase a little bit.

Frozen peas also can be used instead of fresh peas.
